Boostcous: We Just Got Our First Office

Boostcous: We Just Got Our First Office

I've been working remote for 7 years (crazy to think about). Until today!

Boostcous just got our first office!

And I'm surprised at how quickly I'm becoming a fan of in-person work. You move so much faster!

Here's what I've noticed in the last week of in-person work. Two things stand out.

Slack Misses Context

Slack messages miss so much context.

Everyone's received a message that feels like it has micro-aggression behind it. When you're in person, you can turn to that person and hash it out.

No more resentment building.

War Room

When things break (which they will), you can "war room" it.

Get in a room with a whiteboard and figure it out.

Most recently for us, we had Meta performance issues that resulted in a sales dip for Boostcous. We got in a room and talked through root cause, and what we can do to fix it. Now we're back on track.

Peter Rahal talks about this in his open residency pod. Highly recommend.

Bottom Line

After 7 years of remote work, one week in an office showed me two things: Slack messages miss so much context, and when things break, you can war room it with a whiteboard and fix it fast. In-person work just moves faster.

I never thought I'd say this after so many years working remote, but I'm becoming a fan. No more resentment building, no more slow fixes.

If you've been remote for years like me, give in-person work a real shot and see how much faster you move.
